The healthcare sector has had long-standing best practice guidelines on the importance of maintaining hand hygiene, particularly in clinical environments. The WHO states that any healthcare worker, caregiver, or person involved in direct or indirect patient care needs to be concerned about hand hygiene and should be able to perform it correctly and at the right time.
The pandemic has resulted in general healthcare standards for hand hygiene being extended to us all, particularly in places of work, and public spaces where COVID-19 risk assessments have had to consider the need to provide additional handwashing facilities so that people can wash their hands more frequently.
Hand Sanitiser on its own isn’t enough. Hand sanitiser does not remove soiling and therefore is less thorough at eliminating viruses than handwashing. The HSE recommendation is that hand sanitiser should only be used where hands are physically clean. So, the need for a handwashing facility to be accessible has never been greater.
Across the UK, compliance rules have become tighter and providing handwashing facilities is now a priority. Everyone now requires adequate hand hygiene facilities to protect themselves, their family, friends, and colleagues.
This has resulted in increased demand for Nexus Solutions Nex-Wash clinical wash hand basin IPS units, and Nex-Pod wash hand basin IPS units. Nexus Solutions wash hand basin IPS units are durable and robust integrated panel systems (IPS) finished to the highest quality. They are pre-assembled and prefabricated – ready to go and delivered as fully wrapped units.
Materials are fire and water-resistant offering built in antibacterial and anti-fungal properties and have minimal joint lines leaving an easy clean, smooth hard wearing and impact resistant finish.
All sanitary wear is HTM compliant, and factory fitted.
The Coronavirus pandemic begun to take a stranglehold in the UK in early 2020, the impact we would see on society was largely underestimated. As we travelled through 2020 the gravity of the pandemic became apparent. The UK Government made decisions to build supplementary healthcare facilities to support the number of hospitalisations, one of which being the NHS Nightingale Hospital built in London. In March of 2020, Nexus took an urgent request to supply over 100 Nex-Wash clinical wash hand basin IPS units to the hospital. Whilst navigating through the challenges of ensuring that Nexus Solutions employees were working in a safe environment the business responded to the urgent request.
The Nex-Wash clinical wash hand basin IPS units are made entirely within Nexus’s manufacturing facility, using their own labour, local suppliers, and supply chain partners. For this reason, it was possible to speed up production to meet the timeframes required. Adaptations and amendments were quickly worked through with the in-house design and CAD team, enabling Nexus to respond to requests for additional sanitary products, taps and fixtures. All Nex-Wash units come with the in-built property of being antibacterial and antifungal making it the ideal material for use in the Nightingale Hospital.
The 100+ Nex-Wash units were manufactured and delivered within 14 days, this level of service was enormously appreciated and resulted in the following customer testimonial: “Thank you to Nexus Solutions for their quick, speedy and efficient turnaround of the Nex-Wash Units they manufactured and delivered to the nightingale hospital. Nexus Solutions went above and beyond in the middle of a global pandemic and we could not have asked for more”.
